best shader for sci fi by Anon_909Vote
I recently started tracking assets related to sci fi on FSC and asset store, last time i saw this asset was around a year ago, but compared to that time it really grow up. now, the asset creator says that it's good for signs and panels, but with a very careful usage, you can use it on other places too, for example, on a gun model? why not, after all, this is a shader that sits on a material and where ever you can use a material, you can use this shader. of course being able to have dynamic panels like this in corridors, on your spaceship control panel and things like this is the intended usage, but i don't see why shouldn't we be able to use this on other parts of sci fi system, gun was the easiest example, i could even imagine putting this on a character's sci fi armor suit, grenades, and many more places, things like this shader is what makes your game uniquely stand out. although you can argue that with shader forge you can get something like this yourself with maybe more control, but if you don't need that extra control, this asset is ready to be used as it is, also, keep in mind, to mimic a shader in shader forge just to be able to add more control on top of it, you first need to learn how the original is working, not only looking into it's code but also playing with it to see how it feels for the player to see it on screen. after all, the visual presentation of the shader to the player, is the most important thing when it comes to shaders, umm, isn't it the main and sole purpose of shaders? (joking)
