This is a good asset, with quite a lot of extendability as long as you surpass the steep learning curve and figure out how the different components talk to each other, and while UFPS has a good manual (essentially a 200 page google docs document) it is not a trivial task.

The animations are physics based which is cool since you can add a regular rigged arm and apply different effects ranging from the way your arm moves when shooting, to recoil, to jumping etc. When I say effects though, I mean you can apply presets you have saved previously and which are based on physical forces (acceleration, damping, gravity modifier, etc...), this is a great weapon for those that want realistic animations based on physics but is usually a pain in the ass for those that have no knowledge of physics, so its a double edged sword.

Keep in mind that only the actions which were accounted for by the author will be available to setup out-of-the-box, for example even simple actions like swimming and opening closing doors has been added only recently (1.6 if not mistaken, respectively via free fly and object interaction/moving platforms), a flashlight/battery system is not integrated yet as long as I know.

Another thing that needs to be kept in mind in general before using this asset, is while the assets name is Ultimate FPS, it is far from being ultimate in the sense that one might think (handling anything related to a FPS game), this is really about handling your FPS character, anything else be it enemy AI, or networking youll have to integrate yourself or through other assets, but one of the brilliant aspects of UFPS is the great amount of supporting assets.

Finally, version 1.7 comes with some new goodies like the native Oculus VR support, Anti-Cheat Toolkit etc...

If you need to add a FPS camera to any project, UFPS sounds like the best choice so far. It comes with a lot of presets for all kind of camera type, from a drunk cowboy to a counter strike style or a mech warrior. It also comes with a bunch of weapons and hands, and offers a lot of parameters to customize all actions like jumping swimming zooming etc... using it is simple as dag and drop. You immediately have 6 type of weapon ready, fully working with decals and bullets. The script comes with a lot of extra but you need to look into the btw excellent documentation. You can have reloads, damages and even a mini inventory system. Customization is easy, the code is clean and documented. Now after using it for a while I have found may problems that are turning me off. Let list some of them. First you cannot scale your player without scaling manually all the parameters (hundred of them). It would have been so easy for the author to use the scale x,y,z from the prefab as a multiplier for all the parameters. If you have a Golem for example, no way to make it bigger than what the presets are made for... so if your map is too large, you will have to scale your map to the size the author has made all his presets or will re-create presets from scratch! Another big problem, the player does not glide over anything. That mean if you put some small garbage on the road, your player will be stopped by it, and if you have a small stair, you will have to jump to get on the top! That not really AAA. So here we have a great pack with a lot of very complex prefabs for everything, but the basic gameplay is not handled correctly. If you are a good programer you will probably fix these problem easily and enjoy the large number of great features of this pack. If you are a newbie and are not programming... avoid.
